Menil

The Dan Flavin Installation at Richmond Hall is temporarily closed to the public for routine maintenance and in order to replace the roof. A reopening date will be announced in the future.

Admission is free. Always.

Accessibility

All Menil Collection art buildings, including the main building on Sul Ross Street, Menil Drawing Institute, Cy Twombly Gallery, and the Dan Flavin Installation at Richmond Hall have accessible entrances. The Menil Bookstore and Bistro Menil also have accessible entrances.

There are four wheelchair accessible parking spaces available in our main parking lot at 1515 West Alabama Street. The parking lot next to Richmond Hall, located on the south side of our campus, also has accessible parking.

Wheelchairs are available for visitor use in the main building and Menil Drawing Institute. Please note that they are first come, first serve.

Parking

The museum’s main parking lot is located at 1515 West Alabama Street. Street parking is available on Sul Ross, Mulberry, Mandell, Branard, and West Main Streets and in lots adjacent to Richmond Hall and the Byzantine Fresco Chapel.

Buses are prohibited from parking in or driving through the lot at 1515 West Alabama Street. Buses should drop off groups at the main entrance sidewalk at 1533 Sul Ross Street and may park along Mulberry Street.

Parking is prohibited in designated crosswalks located on Sul Ross and Branard Streets.

Group visits

The Menil welcomes groups of visitors, but does not offer guided tours nor allow public lecturing in the galleries. If you plan to visit with a group of more than twenty people, please notify us one week in advance, by calling
(713) 525- 9400.

School groups must provide one adult chaperone for every ten students.

Ceremonies and Celebrations

We regret that we cannot accommodate requests to host weddings, formal ceremonies, or organized celebrations in museum buildings or on the grounds.
