Research and scholarship are central to the mission of the museum, and the Menil has a long history of initiating and supporting scholarly projects and publishing the results. Facilities in the museum, museum staff, and off-site research offices, and special project personnel create research hubs that result in exhibitions, publications, and programs of many varieties and scales. Some are represented here, and more will be developed and documented in the coming years.
The Collections Analysis Collaborative (CAC) is a research and educational initiative in partnership with the Rice University and University of Houston-Clear Lake. The project aims to develop a rich, historical understanding of the nearly 600 objects from the ancient Mediterranean at the Menil Collection.
