The Menil Collection officially concluded the first comprehensive capital campaign in the institution’s thirty-year history on December 31, 2017. Donations to The Campaign for the Menil totaled more than $121 million, exceeding our goal by over $6 million.
The Campaign has made possible construction of Bistro Menil, a new landscaped parking lot and campus gateway at West Alabama Street, the Menil Drawing Institute, a new energy efficient central plant, additional neighborhood greenspaces, and $50 million to enhance our endowment that will support this growth. The Campaign is also allowing us to make important upgrades to our historic Renzo Piano-designed main building, preserving this architectural landmark and providing an unparalleled art viewing experience for our visitors.
Over 500 individual donors, foundations, and members contributed gifts ranging from $5 to over $1 million towards our vision for the future. We are deeply grateful for the unprecedented philanthropy of the Menil community.
