The Menil Collection’s 35th Birthday Party

Join us for the Menil Collection’s 35th birthday celebration on Saturday, June 4. Enjoy live music by Keyun and the Zydeco Masters, as well as refreshments and dessert on the Menil’s front lawn.

At 5 p.m., Menil curators will present short talks on the museum’s collection.

  • 5:10 p.m. Introduction to Michael Heizer’s outdoor sculpture
    Kelly Montana, Assistant Curator

  • 5:30 p.m.: Introduction to the Modern and Contemporary Art galleries
    Michelle White, Senior Curator

  • 5:50 p.m.: Introduction to the Arts of the Ancient World galleries
    Danielle Bennett, Curatorial Associate

Each talk is approximately 15 minutes. The first talk will meet next to Michael Heizer’s Isolated Mass/Circumflex (#2) on the front lawn, and the others will meet at the respective entrances to the galleries.

We invite you to explore our current permanent collection displays, as well as special exhibitions Meret Oppenheim: My Exhibition and Joseph E. Yoakum: What I Saw.

Attending the event:

This program takes place at the main building, located at 1533 Sul Ross Street. Please bring your own picnic blankets or lawn chairs, seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Menil green space policies apply.
