Susanne Theis, programming director of Discovery Green, moderates a panel on the intersections of art and community with Smither Park designer Dan Phillips, author Pete Gershon, and curator William Fagaly. Co-presented with the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition As Essential As Dreams (pictured above), on view through October 16.

Houston and Madrid-based artist Lauren Moya Ford’s (pictured above) Fabiola is a lecture performance that weaves a response to Francis Alÿs’s The Fabiola Project together with her reflections on recent experiences in art-filled churches and a failed romance in Europe. Through images and words, Moya Ford explores faithfulness, originality, and symbolism while considering the devotional and miraculous sides of art and life.
