Film Screening: “Geometry of Light”

Co-presented by Aurora Picture Show and the Menil Collection, Geometry of Light is a program inspired by the Greek-born artist Chryssa and the exhibition Chryssa & New York. This outdoor screening, curated by Salome Kokoladze, features short experimental film and video works that examine urban cultures with particular attention to light and geometry. Artists in this program, including Jenny Holzer, Muriel Magenta, and Luis Arnías, draw inspiration from billboards, pulsating neon lights, storefront signage, street ambience as well as the interactions between natural and industrial materials. Following the trajectories of light around us, the selected works unsettle systems of knowledge, power, and the urban imagination.

Aurora Picture Show is a Houston-based non-profit media arts center dedicated to expanding the cinematic experience and promoting the understanding and appreciation of moving image art. Throughout the year, Aurora presents innovative non-traditional, artist-made film, video, and multidisciplinary works.
