BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer)

Since 2013, the Menil Collection and Aurora Picture Show have co-presented this lively, annual evening of community-sourced projections covering the museum’s façade. Originally inspired by artist Rafaël Rozendaal’s Berlin events and the spread of global projection gatherings, this free-admission BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer) held on the museum’s sprawling front lawn each spring has become a Houston tradition for participants and picnicking audiences alike.

All are invited to contribute their own video, film, overhead projector, or slide imagery to the experience. Participants must first register in advance for a space and time slot via the sign-up form on Aurora Picture Show’s website.

This takes place on the lawn in front of the main building, located at 1533 Sul Ross Street. Additional information regarding accessibility and parking can be found here.

As always, Menil programs are free and open to all.
