The Menil Collection and DACAMERA copresent a special performance of Michael Harrison’s Revelation: Music in Pure Intonation (2007). Harrison, a disciple of the avant-garde composer La Monte Young, performs his acclaimed work for re-tuned piano within an installation of American artist Walter De Maria’s stainless-steel sculptures and monumental paintings. The program is organized in conjunction with the Menil’s exhibition Walter De Maria: Boxes for Meaningless Work, which explores the early conceptual and participatory sculpture of De Maria when he was engaged with experimental music and performance in the 1960s.
