Artist Talk: Liliana Porter

Livestream will start Thursday, February 10, at 6 p.m.

New York-based artist Liliana Porter delivers an Artist Talk at the Menil. Porter will discuss her multidisciplinary practice, which encompasses painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, video, installation, and more recently, theater. She will also speak about her 1974 work, Mural Circular VI, currently on view in the exhibition Spatial Awareness: Drawings from the Permanent Collection, at the Menil Drawing Institute.

As always, Menil programs are free and open to all. The Artist Talk series is supported by a gift from the Cockrell Family Fund.

About the artist:

Liliana Porter was born in Argentina in 1941, and has resided in New York since 1964. She began showing her work in 1959 and has since been included in over 450 exhibitions in 40 countries. Recent solo shows include those at El Museo de Barrio in New York City; The Perez Art Museum in Miami; Galería Luciana Brito in São Paulo, Brasil; ART OMI in Ghent, NY; Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA; El Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales in Montevideo; Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes Franklin Rawson in San Juan, Argentina; Museo de Arte de Zapopan in Guadalajara, Mexico; Sicardi Gallery in Houston, TX; Barbara Krakow Gallery in Boston, MA; and Galerie Mor-Charpentier in Paris, France. In 2017 Porter’s work was included in Viva Arte Viva, La Biennale di Venezia, 57th International Art Exhibition in Italy.
