Artist Talk with Suzan Frecon

As part of the Menil’s ongoing lecture series with contemporary artists, abstract painter Suzan Frecon will present a talk on November 7 in the main museum building. Frecon will discuss elements that go into making her work, such as the variability and transformative qualities of natural light and oil paint, color, composition, and scale. “I have spent my life trying to make art/painting that has the singular purpose of speaking for itself,” says Frecon.

Suzan Frecon’s painting version 13 (2010) is currently on view at the Menil Collection. This program is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.
