Lecture

Renowned scholar and art historian Darby English teaches at University of Chicago. He is the author of 1971, A Year in the Life of Color, which explores in great detail the exhibitions Contemporary Black Artists in America, at the Whitney Museum of American Art, and The DeLuxe Show, a racially integrated abstract art exhibition that was presented in a renovated movie theater in Houston’s Fifth Ward. In 2010, English received the University of Chicago’s Quantrell Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, the nation’s oldest such prize.
