The Menil Collection invites you to the launch of the publication of House is a House is a House is a House is a House is a House (Birkhäuser, 2016), the first book to document the work of Los Angeles-based firm Johnston Marklee, the architects of the Menil Drawing Institute. Created in dialog with a group of international artists and architectural critics, this collection of five thematic conversations and residential projects reflects over a decade of Johnston Marklee’s architectural explorations.
Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee will discuss their design process and position within contemporary architectural discourse in a conversation with Reto Geiser, editor of the book and Gus Wortham Assistant Professor of Architecture at Rice University, and Sarah Whiting, contributor to the publication and Dean of the Rice University School of Architecture.
The talk will be followed by a book signing.
