What do you do when you suspect that a rare Yup’ik mask coming up for auction might be a long-lost mate to one already in the Menil Collection? Join Curator Sean Mooney and renowned expert Jeffrey Meyers as they recount the circumstances that led to the reunion of two extraordinary masks—one representing a wolf, the other a caribou—here at the Menil for the first time in 100 years. They are featured in our current exhibition MicroCosmos: Details from the Carpenter Collection, which is on view through February 21, 2016.
