Menil

Beginning February 26, 2018

Main Museum Building Temporary Public Closure

About the Project

In order to carry out necessary updates and repairs, the Menil Collection will close the main museum building located at 1533 Sul Ross Street for several months in 2018. The Menil will close the building on Monday, February 26, after the conclusion of the exhibition Mona Hatoum: Terra Infirma. The main building will reopen to the public in autumn 2018.

Read more about the project in the Houston Chronicle.

Other Menil Buildings and Greenspaces Remain Open

Although the main building will temporarily close, our other buildings and greenspaces will remain open to the public. These spaces include the Cy Twombly Gallery, Dan Flavin Installation at Richmond Hall, Byzantine Fresco Chapel, Menil Bookstore, Menil Park, and Bistro Menil. For more information on the Menil campus, please see the rail below.

Research Access to Menil Library and Archives

The Menil library and archives will remain open to researchers with minimal disruption, and they can continue making appointments, as usual. Visit the library page and archives page for more information. Additionally, a selection of works from our collection are available online.

Admission is free. Always.
