Artist Marcia Kure will join Assistant Curator Kelly Montana for a conversation in conjunction with the unveiling of her monumental work commissioned by the Menil—the third in an ongoing series of ephemeral wall drawings in the entry space of the Menil Drawing Institute.
Kure will share insight into the process of creating this new work, as well as discuss her multidisciplinary practice more broadly, which explores a wide range of concepts, including colonial legacies and diasporic identities.
This program will take place outdoors on the deck of West Main Green, adjacent to the Menil Drawing Institute. It is free and open to the public. Limited outdoor seating will be available on the deck on a first-come, first-served basis. Picnic blankets are encouraged for the lawn.
Please follow social distancing guidelines and wear a face mask that covers your nose and mouth unless eating or drinking. Additional Menil green space policies apply. Further information regarding accessibility and parking can be found here. In the event of inclement weather, please check the Menil’s website for further information regarding alternative plans.
Plan ahead and visit Marcia Kure’s wall drawing in the Menil Drawing Institute before the program by reserving your free timed entry here.
