[Postponed] Stop, Look and Listen!: Will Cruz and Quattro

In conjunction with the exhibition Allora & Calzadilla: Specters of Noon, the Menil Collection and Da Camera co-present an outdoor concert with Houston-based musicians Will Cruz and Quattro. Fusing jazz with the Puerto Rican cuatro guitar and syncopated rhythms of the Caribbean, Quattro creates a unique sound with an infectious energy.

Musicians:

  • Albert Graulao, cuatro and violin
  • Feliz Yoan Alonso, bass
  • Jorge Lebron, drums
  • Will Cruz, Latin Percussion

This concert is part of the Menil and Da Camera’s ongoing series, Stop, Look and Listen!, a family-friendly series of free chamber music and jazz concerts presented at the Menil Collection. These museum concerts often feature unconventional, interactive concert formats and fun, adventurous musical selections. Programs are designed to celebrate specific artworks and exhibitions on display in the museum.

Join us after the concert for a book launch for the Specters of Noon exhibition catalogue, and an outdoor film screening of Allora & Calzadilla films.

Attending the program:

The concert will take place on the Menil’s front lawn at 1533 Sul Ross Street, between Mandell and Mulberry Streets. Please bring your own picnic blankets or lawn chairs; seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are required to abide by the museum’s COVID-19 safety protocols by maintaining social distance (at least 6 feet between each household) and wearing a face mask that covers your nose and mouth unless eating or drinking. Additional green space policies apply. Further information regarding accessibility and parking can be found here.

Plan ahead and visit the Menil Collection’s exhibition Allora & Calzadilla: Specters of Noon, curated by Michelle White, before the screening by reserving your free timed entry at menil.org/welcomeback. The exhibition will be on view through June 20, 2021.
