Members Noontime Talk: Cleaning Sensitive Paint Surfaces*

The unvarnished surfaces of modern paintings present challenges for conservators. Walter De Maria’s 1961 work “A Walk to Sign B” “B Walk to Sign A” consists of a pair of small, monochromatic white canvases. Learn about an innovative cleaning strategy that uses gel sheets to safely to remove layers of dirt and grime from even the most sensitive works in the collection with Andew W. Mellon Fellow in Painting Conservation Anne Schmid.
