Conservation of Works on Paper
The Menil Collection's holdings of works on paper range from Old Masters to Modern and Contemporary drawings, prints and photographs. Traditional and experimental materials are represented, and vary widely from handmade papers to newsprint, drawings on plastic, and even leaves. The immediacy of drawings, and their often intimate scale, pose challenges in interpretation and presentation. The subtleties and vulnerabilities of these works are carefully considered when developing preservation strategies and carrying out conversation treatments.
